Behind the Curtain

NAME
Erik K. Fritz
ROOTS
I was born in Tucson, Arizona in 1974 and stayed there until, in the summer of '86, I was transplanted to Fresno, California. In '92 I graduated from Clovis High School and, after taking a slightly scenic route, graduated from CSU Fresno in '98 with a BA in English Literature.

I then headed for the Rockies in the Fall of '99 and spent two years in Missoula, Montana earning a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from the University of Montana before heading back to Fresno in 2001.
WORKING LIFE
I teach part-time in the English Department at Fresno City College and I was recently elected to the board of the English Council of California Two-Year Colleges as the Adjunct Director-at-large for Northern California.

I recently founded my own web design company, Ginkgo Leaf Design, after having designed many web sites over the last ten years for myself, my friends, and organizations I've affiliated with.
IMPORTANT STUFF
In 2003 I married my best friend, Heather Anne Hubbard, and at the present our family consists of our cat, Vasily, and our Basset Hound/Austalian Cattle Dog mix, Georgia. Francis, our 20 year old Corgi mix, was finally freed from his failing body on June 17th, 2006. Our cat Maggie left us very suddenly in April of 2005 after a bout with cancer. Karl Marx and Maxx, our most recent feline acquisitions, have been farmed out to my mother, who's now also here in Fresno. Stan decided he needed to be in a one-cat house, so he's now happily hunting gophers on an almond farm in Chowchilla. Seriously, I couldn't have made that up if I'd have tried.
THIS SITE
This site serves mainly as a testing space for new technologies and ideas I want to try out before attempting to implement them on a client project. It is, of course, also a place for family and friends to come for the latest pictures we've taken or the latest rant I've cooked up, so there's that, too.

The is site is coded entirely by hand on my Mac using the wonderful text editor skEdit. Textpattern handles the PHP and MySQL and Dreamhost provides more storage and bandwidth than I could ever need.
