Well, we certainly didn’t plan on moving this quickly, but I guess when you tell the Universe you’re ready you’d better mean it.

Takin' it to the Maxx

2 June 2006

On her way home from school Tuesday, Heather decided to stop by FoodMaxx to pick up some much-needed consumable goods. What she came home with was a very scrappy looking black kitten. She found him in the parking lot, mewling loudy and panting (yes, cats can pant) under an SUV. According to Weather.com it was 92° so you know it was hotter than that in the parking lot, but no one else seemed to mind the obvious distress this poor creature was in, so it was clearly up to Heather to intercede, despite the fact that we just recently farmed Karl out to my mother due to Stan’s rather less-than-subtle requests.

And so, Maxx (what else?) became the newest member of our entourage. Of course, Stan immediately resumed his protests, so, once Maxx has been to the vet to make sure nothing is massively wrong with him (seems unlikely given his general attitude and level of activity), he’ll also be going to live with his very kind and understanding grandmother and his brother Karl.

The NSA is so totally tapping my phone now

25 May 2006

Seriously, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they really were.

No, it’s not that I’m really just that cynical and jaded about the Executive branch’s amorality wrapped in the Imperial cloak of Christian fundamentalism, though of course I am, but I seriously suspect recent events in my life just might have tripped an alert wire somewhere.

more tinkering

14 March 2006

I know to most people (yes, all two of you) everything looks the same, but I had a minor breakthrough today about how to put this whole thing together and really make the best use of TextPattern (the Content Management System that runs this show).

Notice the TagCloud to the right. I would explain it all, but you either have some knowledge of tags and tag clouds (via Flickr, most likely) and Folksonomy and know how it works or you don’t and probably wouldn’t care anyway. Or you could just click a few links and see what happens. My TagCloud is made from literature (poetry, mostly) RSS feeds I chose, so it’s pretty cool.

Anyway, you might also notice a few more buttons up top, just to finish everything off. And yeah, the “about” page is blank, I know. I hate writing that stuff.

Updates Already!

27 February 2006

I know this thing doesn’t see that much action, but for the two people watching this site, here’s a heads-up that the “Our Travels,” “Friends & Family,” and “Nature” photo albums have been updated. Mazel.
